Snowboarder is 4th particular person killed in an avalanche in US West this week

SILVERTON, Colo.  — A snowboarder was killed in an avalanche within the mountains of southwestern Colorado on Thursday, the fourth particular person to die in an avalanche within the U.S. West this week after a string of winter storms.

The snowboarder was caught within the particles of the avalanche within the backcountry close to Silverton however a person who was snowboarding with the snowboarder escaped the snow slide, the Colorado Avalanche Info Heart stated. Employees from a close-by backcountry hut observed the avalanche, alerted rescuers and helped the skier dig the sufferer out of the particles, it stated.

Three individuals died in avalanches Monday — one particular person close to Lake Tahoe and two backcountry skiers in Oregon’s Cascade Mountains.

The avalanche hazard was elevated for many of Colorado’s mountains earlier this week however circumstances have improved considerably in some areas.
