New evacuation orders have been issued Friday evening because the Palisades Fireplace grew to the north and east.
The expanded zone, 77 sq. miles, prolonged to Interstate 405. A few of that freeway’s interchanges have been closed in Los Angeles’ Westwood and Bel Air areas.
As of Saturday, Jan. 11, Palisades was at 22,660 acres (35 sq. miles) with 11% containment, the California Division of Forestry and Fireplace Safety stated.
Evacuation orders have been decreased to warnings Friday night for some neighborhoods south of the Eaton Fireplace. Burning to the north, into the Angeles Nationwide Forest, Eaton was at 14,117 acres (22 sq. miles) with 15% containment, CalFire stated Saturday.
All evacuation orders have been lifted for the Kenneth and Hurst fires, with containment round 80% for each on Saturday.
