OAKLAND — After an Alameda man allegedly ran a purple mild, inflicting a collision that killed the 39-year-old driver in one other automotive, he reportedly fled the scene however then referred to as police to show himself in.

However when he did so, 22-year-old Jacob Morgan allegedly displayed “objective signs” of intoxication as police interviewed him inside an Alameda hospital. Authorities wrote in courtroom filings that he smelled like alcohol and was unable to face as he admitted to working a purple mild and colliding with a Toyota Avalon, killing 39-year-old Troy Jermaine Lee.

Now, Morgan is being charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and leaving the scene of the accident, each felonies. The 2-count criticism doesn’t embrace any DUI costs, information present.

Morgan just isn’t in jail, and courtroom information say a $95,000 arrest warrant was issued for him on Dec. 26, the day the fees had been filed. His first courtroom look has not but been set.

Police mentioned in courtroom information that at about quarter-hour after midnight on June 24, 2023, Morgan’s Toyota Camry ran by a purple mild whereas doing a U-turn on Worldwide Boulevard and twenty third Avenue, colliding into the Avalon. Witnesses reported seeing the Camry’s driver, visibly injured and bloody, flee from the scene.

Morgan referred to as police to show himself in later that morning, in line with courtroom filings.
