San Jose — Due to a monumental effort from plenty of corporations, civic organizations and people, the 106th annual Veterans Day parade hit the streets of downtown San Jose on Monday regardless of the rain. The grand marshal for this yr’s celebration was retired U.S. Military Maj. Gen. Stephen Hager, a local of Mountain View and a Santa Clara College alum who graduated with a level in arithmetic.

The celebration began with a ceremony at Plaza de Cesar Chavez, then traveled alongside Santa Clara Road to Market Road, the place the parade turned south to complete at San Carlos Road. Here’s a visible essay of the day that we honor our veterans.
