Richmond police arrest 9 at huge weekend sideshow

RICHMOND — Police arrested 9 individuals and impounded 4 autos following an unlawful sideshow within the early morning hours of Saturday, based on a social media put up from the Richmond Police Division.

Round 12:21 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Canal Boulevard on reviews of a sideshow, authorities mentioned. There, they discovered a sideshow with greater than 50 autos and 200 individuals.

When officers arrived, the individuals tried to flee by driving within the incorrect route on the road, driving over medians and driving “erratically” on the sidewalk, police mentioned.

Police deployed spike strips for one automobile and arrested the occupants, authorities added. The 4 autos will likely be impounded for 30 days.

Officers added that sideshows “pose serious risks to everyone involved.” They’re additionally unlawful.

“These reckless gatherings put lives at stake, from participants to bystanders,” authorities wrote within the put up.
