Saratoga to fund over $100,000 in Wildwood Park restroom repairs after fireplace

After a hearth broken a public restroom in Saratoga’s Wildwood Park this summer time, town council voted to place practically $140,000 in the direction of its repairs.

The Santa Clara County Fireplace Division first responded to studies of the hearth within the restroom within the early hours of Aug. 3, and recognized the origins of the hearth to be within the males’s restroom, in accordance with Matt Mokhtarian, a public info officer with the division. There have been indicators of pressured entry to the restroom, and fireplace officers estimated the price of cleanup and repairs because of the fireplace to be round $1 million.

The incident remains to be underneath investigation, Mokhtarian mentioned.

The council’s unanimous vote at its Oct. 2 assembly amended the contract with the development firm that was already contracted for the undertaking to incorporate repairs for the hearth harm within the scope of their tasks. The price of these repairs is estimated to be $138,876, metropolis employees mentioned.

“Combining the work with the original contract will increase efficiency, as the single contractor will be able to coordinate all of the work together,” metropolis employees mentioned in a report. “In addition, the combined project will allow for the restroom to be reopened more quickly.”
