Caltrans closes some I-680 lanes this weekend for repavement undertaking

SAN RAMON — A weekend-long partial closure of a portion of I-680 in San Ramon started Friday night to permit crews to repave deteriorating sections of the freeway, the California Division of Transportation introduced.

Two of 4 southbound lanes will likely be closed ranging from Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon to the I-580/I-680 Connector in Pleasanton by 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7. The connector will stay open and unaffected by development. Two proper lanes will likely be open to site visitors however Caltrans recommends motorists take alternate routes to alleviate site visitors congestion in San Ramon and Dublin.

As well as, a I-680 categorical lane and left shoulder will likely be closed heading northbound between Amador Valley Boulevard in Dublin and Alcosta Boulevard.

“Though lanes will be open, it’s best to avoid the area if possible. If you do access the freeway, please be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone and slow for the Cone Zone,” learn the Caltrans closure announcement. “Caltrans is aware that the closures will impact the motoring public and measures are being taken to minimize inconvenience.”

The weekend closure will enable crews to repave a deteriorating part of the street, bettering security and decreasing the variety of night time closures wanted to finish the undertaking. A weekend closure is equal to about 40 days of night time closures, Caltrans stated. A further partial closure of this part of I-680 is scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 18 by Oct. 21.
