Tons of took to the streets of San Jose and Oakland this weekend to rejoice Día de los Muertos.

Avenida de Altares (Avenue of the Altars), happened on the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose. Avenida de Altares is an immersive expertise with a curated altar stroll spanning from the intersection of Alum Rock Avenue and King Highway to the doorway of Freeway 101, culminating contained in the plaza grounds.

After the stroll, neighborhood members had been invited into La Plaza for all kinds of actions together with Day of the Lifeless-themed face portray, non-public tarot readings, native artisans and makers promoting authentic creations, a dressing up contest and a picturesque cemetery set up.

For 30 years, the Oakland Día de los Muertos Pageant has welcomed tens of hundreds of holiday makers to the colourful, culturally-rich Fruitvale neighborhood for a free, outside family-friendly celebration honoring the Mexican traditions of Día de los Muertos.

Pageant attendees loved world-class stay music, family-friendly video games, rides and actions, conventional Latin American artisans and the breathtaking altars created by neighborhood members paying homage to their deceased ancestors.

This 12 months’s competition celebrates 30 years of custom with the highly effective theme “Aquí estamos y no nos vamos” — a declaration of resilience, unity and cultural delight that continues to outline the Fruitvale neighborhood.
