A crash early Thursday involving a giant rig gasoline tanker shut down the southbound route of a state freeway in Santa Cruz County, the California Freeway Patrol mentioned.

The wreck occurred about 6:45 a.m. on southbound state Freeway 17 simply south of Sugarloaf Street.

A driver emerged from the truck with proof of a head harm, in response to preliminary stories confirmed by the CHP. The severity of the harm was not instantly identified.

The CHP confirmed preliminary stories that the tanker overturned and that a part of it went down an embankment.
