5 skiers have been transported to the hospital Monday after an “incident” on a chair elevate at Heavenly ski resort in Lake Tahoe, based on Tahoe Douglas Hearth Safety District Assistant Chief Bryce Cranch.

The sufferers’ situations aren’t but identified.
The incident occurred round 10 a.m. native time, and hearth officers stated they responded with two hearth engines and three rescue ambulances.

Travis Faanes informed CNN that he was within the elevate line for the Dipper Categorical chairlift when he heard somebody yell out, “Oh my God!”
He stated when he turned to his proper, he noticed individuals fall and hit the bottom.
“The chair slid backwards with people on it into the chair behind it,” Faanes stated. “The people in the front chair fell off.”
He added that this might have been worse.
“They [are] lucky this happened at the very beginning of the lift,” he stated.
Brett Federico informed CNN that he bought there proper after it occurred.
Federico stated he noticed 4 sleds take individuals down the mountain after the incident, and that he noticed one of many victims on oxygen as they glided by.
“It was not good at all,” Federico stated. “A malfunctioning chair has always been a nightmare of mine, and to witness it is even worse.”
The resort is “investigating” the incident, and friends’ security is “top priority,” Communications Supervisor Cole Zimmerman informed CNN.
