3 BART law enforcement officials despatched to hospital after crash in West Oakland

A multi-vehicle accident in entrance of the West Oakland BART station despatched 4 individuals, together with three law-enforcement officers with Bay Space Fast Transit (BART), to the hospital on December 28.

The accident occurred round 2:45 p.m. Saturday close to Mandela Parkway and seventh St. Three automobiles had been concerned, together with two BART police automobiles and a medical-supply van, stated Michael Hunt of the Oakland Hearth Division, which was on the scene.

“There were four patients transported for injuries, three law enforcement and one civilian,” Hunt stated.

The severity of accidents was unknown as of Saturday night. BART’s media workplace didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.

Video posted to the Citizen app confirmed a BART police automobile smoking with its entrance finish crumpled.

In the meantime, an individual on X.com posted photographs from the scene exhibiting particles scattered throughout the roadway. “Probably lucky the crashed cars didn’t impact pedestrians,” the individual wrote. “It happened right in front of the bus terminal. Often dozens of people are waiting there.”

It wasn’t the one factor requiring emergency help to occur within the space Saturday.

“There was also concurrently another incident at the West Oakland BART for an overdose that the fire department was already on the scene for,” stated Hunt. “That person was also transported.”
