One youngster has been killed and 6 different youngsters have been injured after a automobile drove right into a daycare in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Wednesday, police say.

Police say the kid who died was a one and a half-year-old boy. He was pronounced useless in hospital.

Of the six different youngsters harm, one is in hospital with severe accidents. The rest are in non-life-threatening situation, together with three workers members. Police say the kids struck vary in age from one and a half to 3 years previous.

A person in his 70s was arrested on the scene, in line with York Regional Police. Police don’t imagine the crash was intentional.

The entire youngsters have been accounted for and all mother and father have notified, police mentioned.

‘A very chaotic scene,’ police say

Nebrija mentioned the automobile, an SUV, was in a car parking zone earlier than the crash and “for reasons unknown,” the person drove by the automobile by a entrance window of the daycare.

“As you can imagine, this was a very chaotic scene,” Nebrija mentioned. “We can appreciate that this was a very alarming call for parents to receive and to attend at the end of their day.”

Richmond Hill, Ont., daycare crash not believed to be deliberate, police say

York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween mentioned in a submit on X, previously Twitter, that police are investigating and offering help to the victims and officers who responded.

“My thoughts are with the children, employees and families impacted by this devastating incident. No family should have to deal with a tragedy like this,” MacSween mentioned.

Daycare ‘heartbroken and deeply saddened’ by incident

In a press release on Instagram, First Roots Early Schooling Academy mentioned it’s “heartbroken and deeply saddened by the tragic incident at our center. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family at this incredibly difficult time.”

Richmond Hill Mayor David West mentioned the incident is “unimaginable” and “terribly shocking.” He mentioned the town extends condolences to the household who misplaced a baby on Wednesday and the households whose youngsters have been injured.

“We certainly are a strong and resilient community, but this is the kind of thing that really shakes us to the core,” West mentioned.

“We need come together at a time like this for sure. This is something that no community, no parent, certainly none of us wants ever to happen.”

Police proceed to ask individuals to keep away from the world and to count on important delays.

Roads within the space are closed as police examine.
