A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly demanding an extortion of Rs 13 crore from a Delhi-based YouTuber, police stated on Friday.
The 24-year-old complainant, who runs a YouTube channel, advised police that on April 9 he acquired a number of calls from an unknown quantity whereas he was in Bawana’s Sector-1, a senior police officer stated.
The caller, later recognized as Vishal alias Katia, allegedly threatened to kill him if the extortion demand was not met, the YouTuber claimed in his criticism.
The police stated the accused claimed to learn about a property inheritance acquired by the YouTuber’s spouse, and particularly talked about her share of land, allegedly value a number of crores.
Within the fifth name, the caller grew to become aggressive and threatened the complainant with dire penalties if he didn’t pay Rs 13 crore, they stated.
Following this, a case was registered at Bawana Police Station and Vishal was traced and apprehended close to Nirmal Vatika in Bawana inside 24 hours, the officer stated.
Vishal, a resident of Bawana, was beforehand concerned in a single legal case, he stated, including that the cell phone used to make the extortion calls was recovered from his possession.
