Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are reportedly in talks to purchase shares in a cricket crew as a part of their newest foray into the world of sport.

The Hollywood actors purchased Wrexham AFC in 2020 and oversaw the membership’s return to the English Soccer League (EFL) for the primary time in 15 years.

The Pink Dragons at the moment are taking part in in League One, the third tier of English soccer, having gained back-to-back promotions.

Cardiff-based Welsh Hearth performs in The Hundred, a hundred-ball cricket event which was first launched in 2021.

“I’m not sure what level those conversations are at. All I know is that they’ve made contact and there’s some interest in the proposition,” he mentioned.

Earlier this month, the England and Wales Cricket Board opened the method to safe personal funding into The Hundred forward of the fifth version of the event in 2025.

As a part of the method of promoting franchises, the hosts of the eight groups in The Hundred event might be given a 51% stake, which they will promote or preserve.

The remaining 49% in both sides might be bought by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to personal buyers.

“We’re really proud of our Welsh heritage,” Mr Cherry mentioned. “And we’ve seen the unbelievable work that Ryan and Rob have carried out in participating soccer followers in North Wales and constructing that model globally.

“We’re open minded about potential investment into Welsh Fire at the moment, and if Ryan and Rob are interested in having further conversations then it’s obviously an exciting proposition for us.”

On Monday night, Wrexham travelled to Birmingham for a fixture in entrance of a star-studded crowd.

McElhenney was joined by Birmingham part-owner and former NFL participant Tom Brady together with Brady’s buddy, former England midfielder David Beckham.
