A comment by senior Karnataka Congress MLA RV Deshpande throughout a public interplay has sparked outrage after he made an off-the-cuff remark to a girl journalist asking in regards to the lack of hospital services within the Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada.

Deshpande is the MLA from Haliyal in Uttara Kannada and a former state minister.

Political Reactions Pour In

Reacting to the comment, the BJP criticised it as disrespectful and insulting.

BJP spokesperson Vijay Prasad stated, “Insulting mothers and women is not politics, it’s moral bankruptcy. (Leader of the Opposition) Rahul Gandhi talks about love and respect but his leaders spread hate. This double speak must be exposed. Congress’ politics is about insult, abuse and family attacks… They speak today, deny tomorrow and repeat the next week.”

The JanataDal (Secular) additionally shared a video of the comment and condemned the Congress chief for insulting the dignity of ladies, demanding an apology.

In a submit, the JDS wrote, “To a senior journalist who asked for a super-specialty hospital for the district, you respond with “Let it be your delivery”? Is that this the respect you present to girls?”
