Republican vice presidential nominee and Ohio Sen. JD Vance mentioned Sunday he’s “glad [former] President Trump is safe” within the wake of what the FBI has described as an obvious assassination try.

“Still much we don’t know, but I’ll be hugging my kids extra tight tonight and saying a prayer of gratitude,” the Ohio senator continued.

Earlier Sunday, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, mentioned that “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity.” The Related Press reported that in Florida, the Secret Service fired photographs towards anyone seen as a attainable menace within the former president’s neighborhood.

“I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America,” Vice President Harris mentioned Sunday on X.

“Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me,” Trump continued.
