Ukraine is bracing for an influx of recently conscripted Russian troops on the battlefield within the next two weeks, as both sides prepare for a fight for the southern city of Kherson.
Most of the men called up as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s mobilization will arrive within about two weeks at the front line, where they will be used to reinforce Russian units that have suffered heavy losses, Ukrainian military officials said this week. The Kremlin has said it has mobilized at least 220,000 men.
