President-elect Donald Trump tapped former Florida Rep. Dave Weldon (R) to function the director for the Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention (CDC) throughout his upcoming administration.
“I am thrilled to announce that former Congressman, Dr. Dave Weldon, is nominated to serve as Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),” Trump mentioned in a press launch, which he posted on Reality Social on Friday night.
Weldon, a medical physician and Military veteran, was a seven-term lawmaker till 2008. Whereas in Congress, Weldon served on a number of committees, together with Appropriations, Well being and Human Companies, Schooling and Labor, and Science. He returned to training medication and dealing as a marketing consultant after not in search of reelection.
