This Sculptor Raced to Finish Building a House Before His Wife Died

It was last December when Jackie Saccoccio died of cancer. The abstract painter, a star in the New York art world, was 56.

She and her husband, sculptor Carl D’Alvia had been furiously working on a modern, black house they were building in West Cornwall, Conn.
