On Sunday, Tesla launched a trial group in Austin of about 10 to twenty self-driving robotaxis, marking the primary time the corporate’s vehicles carried paying riders with out human drivers. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on X the launch started with clients paying a $4.20 flat payment. 

Musk has beforehand stated Tesla would roll out the robotaxi service to different cities within the U.S. later this yr, predicting that tens of millions of Teslas can be working autonomously by the second half of 2026, in response to Reuters.
