Hope is overcoming pain as another virus-racked year approaches the finish line. Stock-fund investors once again are looking at solid gains, despite the upheaval of the pandemic and lockdowns.

The stock market has been strong this year thanks to healthy earnings for companies and Fed/government stimulus. The average diversified U.S.-stock fund was up 17.8% with one month to go in 2021, despite a 2.8% loss in November, according to Refinitiv Lipper data.
