Some main airports throughout the U.S. are refusing to play a video that includes Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the federal government shutdown that has prompted vital flight delays.

These airports are in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Ore., Charlotte, N.C., and Cleveland, Ohio, in line with reviews. Three airports in New York are additionally reportedly refusing to play the video.

The 2 northwest airports, Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) and Portland, instructed native FOX 13 Seattle their causes for not taking part in the video.

Employees at Sea-Tac instructed the TV station that they assist bipartisan efforts to finish the shutdown and that they’re working to assist unpaid staff.

Portland airport employees launched an announcement obtained by FOX 13 saying they didn’t consent to airing the video as a result of they consider it violates the Hatch Act and Oregon state legislation, which each prohibit authorities staff from partaking in partisan political actions.

Some 13,000 air site visitors controllers and about 50,000 Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) officers should nonetheless flip up for work throughout the federal government shutdown, however they aren’t being paid, Reuters reported.

Republican and Democratic leaders each blame the opposite aspect for the shutdown, which began Oct. 1 after Congress didn’t approve new spending laws.

“Every day that Republicans refuse to negotiate to end this shutdown, the worse it gets for Americans, and the clearer it becomes who’s fighting for them,” Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., mentioned.

In 2019, throughout a 35-day shutdown, the variety of absences by controllers and TSA officers rose as employees missed paychecks, extending checkpoint wait occasions at some airports.
