S.F.: Man convicted of torching 10 automobiles on downtown streets

A 63-year-old man has been convicted of setting hearth to 10 automobiles in San Francisco’s Union Sq. and Yerba Buena districts.

In a two-week interval in February, Armando Salvador’s arson spree focused automobiles together with a Cadillac Escalade and two Tesla Mannequin Ys, the San Francisco District Lawyer’s Workplace stated Friday.

The Teslas burned so intensely, the fires unfold to 2 different automobiles parked close by, prosecutors stated.

District Lawyer Brooke Jenkins credited the work of fireplace and police investigators and movies equipped by “several concerned local citizens” with cracking the case.

“This case demonstrates how public safety agencies working together with community partners can keep our neighborhoods safe for residents, workers, and visitors,” Jenkins stated.

A jury convicted Salvador of eight counts of arson of one other’s property and two counts of unlawfully inflicting a hearth.

Prosecutors stated the fires started on Feb. 18 when Salvador set hearth to the Escalade on Campton Place and 5 extra automobiles on Geary Avenue and O’Farrell Avenue, all within the Union Sq. district.

On Feb. 24, Salvador set hearth to a Tesla at Mabini Avenue and Bonifacio Avenue and one other at Shipley Avenue and Fourth Avenue, within the Yerba Buena district close to Moscone Heart. They, in flip, burned two different automobiles parked close by, Jenkins stated.

Salvador is at present in custody. He’s to be sentenced Oct. 27.
