A Unhappy Day For Deadheads

“Phil Lesh, bassist and founding member of The Grateful Dead, passed peacefully this morning,” learn the assertion.

“He was surrounded by his family and full of love. Phil brought immense joy to everyone around him and leaves behind a legacy of music and love. We request that you respect the Lesh family’s privacy at this time.”

Inside minutes, 1000’s of feedback had poured in from followers. Lots of them expressed their sympathy by means of beloved Grateful Useless lyrics.

“What a beautiful life he lived,” one fan wrote.

“Rest Easy Phil. You can jam with Jerry, Pigpen and Brent again!”

The final half referred to Lesh’s late bandmates. Jerry Garcia, Ron “Pigpen” Kerman, and Brent Mydland, all handed away at early ages.

“A joker, a prankster, a thunder-bomb thrower, a rainmaker, a box builder, a headband wearer,” a fourth fan noticed.

“A rocker of tie-dyes, a weaver of chains, broken and unbroken, already on the four winds and probably safely home at that. His memory is a blessing.”

There’s been no official phrase on Lesh’s explanation for dying. However based mostly on the above assertion from his household, it sounds as if he went peacefully, and his passing was not sudden.

Lesh acquired a liver transplant in 1998 following a hepatitis C an infection.

He was identified with prostate most cancers in 2008, however he revealed the next yr that he had undergone profitable therapy.

A Life Nicely-Lived

Along with his work with the Grateful Useless, Lesh carried out in such off-shoot initiatives because the Different Ones, the Useless, and Phil Lesh and Associates.

He was a job mannequin to numerous musicians, together with John Mayer, with whom he carried out for a number of years.
