The workplace of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged the U.S. authorities on Saturday to reverse its choice to revoke his visa, weeks earlier than he’s meant to seem on the United Nations’ annual assembly and a world convention about making a Palestinian state.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio rescinded the visas of Abbas and 80 different officers forward of subsequent month’s high-level assembly of the U.N. Basic Meeting, the State Division disclosed on Friday. Palestinian representatives assigned to the U.N. mission had been granted exceptions.
The transfer is the most recent in a sequence of steps the Trump administration has taken to focus on Palestinians with visa restrictions.
The State Division stated in a press release that Rubio additionally ordered some new visa purposes from Palestinian officers, together with these tied to the Palestine Liberation Group, to be denied.
“It is in our national security interests to hold the PLO and PA accountable for not complying with their commitments, and for undermining the prospects for peace,” the assertion stated.

The Palestinian Authority denounced the visa withdrawals as a violation of U.S. commitments because the host nation of the United Nations.
Abbas has addressed the Basic Meeting for a few years and usually leads the Palestinian delegation.
“We call upon the American administration to reverse its decision. This decision will only increase tension and escalation,” Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh advised The Related Press in Ramallah on Saturday.
“We have been in contact since yesterday with Arab and foreign countries, especially those directly concerned with this issue. This effort will continue around the clock,” he stated.
He urged different nations to place stress on the Trump administration to reverse the choice.
EU nations again Palestinian chief
French International Minister Jean-Noël Barrot protested restrictions on entry to the U.N. Basic Meeting, and stated he would talk about the problem with EU counterparts.
“The United Nations headquarters is a place of neutrality, a sanctuary dedicated to peace, where conflicts are resolved,” he stated Saturday. “The UN General Assembly … cannot suffer any restrictions on access.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated he spoke with Abbas on Saturday to inform him that Madrid helps him and known as the visa denial “unjust.”
“Palestine has the right to make its voice heard at the United Nations and in all international forums,” he stated on X.
