Morgan Hill police arrest suspect in alleged carjacking

Morgan Hill Police arrested a San Jose man for suspected carjacking on Tuesday, following a police chase that ended with a stolen Dodge Ram truck crashing into parked automobiles alongside the 9000 block of Monterey Street, in line with police.

At 5:26 p.m. Tuesday, a girl on the 17000 block of Monterey Street known as police alleging {that a} man approached her, took her keys, and drove off in her associate’s white Dodge Ram truck, in line with police.

Morgan Hill Police used town’s automated license plate reader system and positioned the truck touring north on Monterey Street close to Cochrane Street. Officers tried to cease the automobile close to Monterey Street and Palm Avenue, however the driver fled north and drove off-road behind a house within the 9000 block of Monterey Street, in line with police.

The suspect leapt from the automobile whereas nonetheless in gear, inflicting the Dodge Ram to roll ahead right into a parked automobile, in line with police. Officers gave chase and arrested the suspect, Robert Cordova, 29, on suspicion of carjacking.

Officers discovered a single bullet in Cordova’s pants pocket, in line with police. Police searched the encircling space and found a fanny pack containing a loaded handgun on the roof of a close-by house. Dwelling surveillance video confirmed Cordova exiting the Dodge Ram and throwing the fanny pack onto the roof, in line with police.

Morgan Hill police booked Cordova into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of carjacking, evading police, violating probation and unlawful firearm possession.
