Former President Luis Echeverría, whose populist policies led Mexico to an economic debacle and who faced accusations of being the mastermind behind a student massacre during his time as interior minister that still haunts the country, died on Friday. He was 100 years old.
His death was confirmed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Saturday.
