Listed below are the 7 Democrats that voted for Noem as Homeland Safety secretary

Seven Democratic senators voted to substantiate South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) as the top of the Division of Homeland Safety (DHS), permitting her to guide an company that might be paramount to President Trump’s plan to crack down on unlawful immigration throughout his second White Home time period. 

Noem’s nomination was permitted with a 59-34 vote, cruising to the place with much less scrutiny and uncertainty in comparison with different Trump nominees. On Friday evening, Vice President Vance needed to forged a tie-breaking vote to substantiate Pete Hegseth as Protection secretary.

Listed below are the seven Democratic senators who voted for Noem: 

Sen. John Fetterman (Pa.) 

Sen. Maggie Hassan (N.H.) 

Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.)

Sen. Andy Kim (N.J.) 

Sen. Gary Peters (Mich.)

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.) 

Sen. Elisa Slotkin (Mich.) 

Kim said he disagrees “strongly” with Noem on many points, however mentioned he might work alongside the previous governor.

“I had several direct conversations with Governor Noem. While we disagreed strongly on a number of key points of Trump’s agenda, we both agreed that we could more effectively raise and try to address the pressing needs and concerns of communities and families in New Jersey if we communicate and engage directly with one another,” Kim mentioned in a Saturday assertion. 

Peters, the highest Democrat on the Senate Homeland and Authorities Affairs Committee, said that he supported Noem’s nomination as a result of she pledged to deal with the issues in a bipartisan vogue. 

“Given her openness to working on a bipartisan basis to address these and other threats to our homeland security, I voted to advance her nomination out of committee and send it to the Senate floor for consideration,” Peters mentioned.

Seven senators didn’t vote: Angus King (I-Maine), Democrats Sen. Jeff Merkley (Ore.), Brian Schatz (Hawaii), Tina Smith (Minn.), Raphael Warnock of (Ga.) and Ron Wyden of (Ore.), together with GOP Sen. Jerry Moran (R).
