The Pierpont Neighborhood & Technical Faculty Board of Governors held its remaining assembly of the 2024–2025 educational 12 months on June 17, marking a second of reflection, recognition, and renewal because the establishment prepares for the 12 months forward.
Two devoted members concluded their phrases on the Board: Jessica Killon, Pupil Authorities Affiliation President and Class of 2025 graduate, and Juanita Nickerson, labeled employees consultant. Each have been honored for his or her service and contributions to the faculty neighborhood.
Board Chair David Hinkle praised Killon’s management, stating, “Jessica set the bar high.” Interim President Dr. Michael Waide echoed this sentiment, noting, “Jessica served our students well, always sensing value.”
Nickerson mirrored on her time with the Board, saying, “It has been a great opportunity to serve with some of the greatest people this board has had. They have a heart for the college.”
In a heartfelt message, Killon shared her reflections on her time period as SGA President: “Serving as President of the Student Government Association this past year was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my time at Pierpont… We created opportunities for students to connect, to be heard, and to feel a stronger sense of belonging on campus… I’m proud to have played a small part in making a difference.”
Mary Jo Rutherford, who concluded her service as Categorized Workers Chair, expressed gratitude to the Board and President’s Council for his or her assist and welcomed Memori Dobbs because the newly elected Categorized Workers Chair. “This is my last BOG meeting as Classified Staff Chair. I know Memori will do an excellent job. I wish you well as you continue to move Pierpont forward,” Rutherford mentioned.
As a part of the assembly, the Board held elections for its management for the upcoming time period. Lisa Lang, a Bridgeport-based volunteer, entrepreneur, and neighborhood activist, was elected as the brand new Chair, turning into the primary girl to carry the place. Lang beforehand served as Vice Chair.
Outgoing Chair David Hinkle, who served within the position for 4 years, was elected Vice Chair. The Board expressed deep appreciation for his management and dedication to Pierpont. Jeffrey Powell was elected as Secretary.
