Jimmy Cliff Reason behind Demise: Reggae Legend Passes Away at 81

Jimmy Cliff, the reggae musician who grew to become an icon of the style throughout his a few years of performing, has handed away on the age of 81.

“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia. I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists, and coworkers who have shared his journey with him,” Chambers wrote on Instagram Monday morning.

The music icon reportedly handed away in his native Jamaica.

Cliff had a number of hit singles over the course of his profession, together with “Many Rivers to Cross” and “The Harder They Come,” the title monitor from the 1972 movie wherein he starred.

The well-received crime drama helped popularize reggae worldwide and made Cliff a worldwide icon.

Along with his unique songs, Cliff scored hits with a number of covers, together with “Hakuna Matata”, Cat Stevens’s “Wild World” and Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now,” which was featured on the soundtrack of the movie Cool Runnings.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame in 2010.

His widow concluded her announcement with a message of assist to Jimmy’s many followers all through the world:

“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artists and coworkers who have shared his journey with him. To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career,” she wrote, including:

“He actually appreciated every fan for his or her love.

“Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes. I hope you all can respect our privacy during these hard times. Further information will be provided at a later date.”
