Jen Hatmaker has opened up about one thing very painful and really private.
In her new e book, Awake, the HGTV persona takes readers again to July 2020 and remembers waking up at 2 a.m. to listen to her husband of 26 years, Brandon Hatmaker, whispering on the cellphone with one other lady.
The 51-year previous writes this marked “the end of” her life as she knew it.
“To some degree, I almost disassociated,” she informed The New York Put up late final week. “It was so outside the realm of what I would have ever considered a possibility for our life, our marriage, our story.”

Hatmaker went by her husband’s pc that very same night time and found a “trail of betrayal.”
Her memoir claims the affairs went on for a “devastating time span,” with Brandon allegedly shopping for his girlfriends “expensive and lavish gifts” that put their household into “financial chaos.”
The very subsequent morning… Jen threw her partner out of their residence.
“It was so shocking and stunning, and I almost could not process it,” she informed The New York Put up. “I couldn’t even cry. I did not know if I was ever going to be happy again.”

Jen and Brandon based Austin New Church, though the previous in the end grew to become disillusioned with the establishment.
“Inside of that culture, the men are the leaders,” she defined. “They are the pastors. They are the leaders of the family, of the marriage. They are the spiritual authorities. And the women are essentially the support staff.”
For these unfamiliar with their story, Jen married Brandon, who was learning to be a pastor, when she was 19 years previous.
They expanded their household with 5 children and later appeared on HGTV’s My Large Household Renovation.
Hatmaker is at present relationship Tyler Merritt and he or she grew to become a grandmother in August.
Brandon, for his half, publicly addressed Jen’s accusations in an announcement on Monday, September 22.

“We are all bigger than our lowest moment. For those of us living in the consequences of our actions, that can be a hard sell. While I know this truth in my head, I still struggle today to really believe it – for myself – in my heart,” he wrote by way of Substack.
“The bottom second of my life was my very public affair 5 years in the past. I brought about a lot ache, a lot humiliation, and I introduced a lot confusion into the lives of many individuals that I cherished.
“It was the culmination of a three-year personal spiral in which I had lost my anchor, felt no hope, and was the loneliest I’ve ever been in my life.”
Added the pastor:
“I’ve owned my errors, I’ve made amends, I proceed to do the work, I’ve labored exhausting to revive relationships, and I’ve began over.
“I too typically select to not rise up for myself out of worry of it coming throughout as making excuses. There aren’t any excuses. However I didn’t simply get up in the future and determine to have an affair. I didn’t fall out of affection in a single day.
“Our love was coming to a slow and painful ending. And I privately mourned the death of our marriage years before our divorce.”
