Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated she’s not anxious about former President Trump retaliating towards her if he wins the 2024 presidential election.

“No, because I know I haven’t done anything worthy of that. But I will say that going after people for partisan, personal, political purposes is a very difficult experience for somebody — I know that firsthand,” Clinton stated when CNN’s Kaitlan Collins requested if the previous state secretary was involved.

“I know that it can be an expensive proposition to defend yourself. It can be a very emotionally draining experience. So, I think the threats he’s making about a whole range of people should concern anybody,” Clinton stated.

She stated it’s “absolutely bonkers” that they’re discussing what a presidential candidate “might do to violate the law.”

“Here we are, it’s 12 days before the election of the president of the United States of America, and it’s absolutely bonkers that we are talking about what he might do to violate the law, to punish his political opponents. I mean, this is so un-American,” Clinton stated.

She talked about her function on the impeachment inquiry employees that investigated former President Nixon, who resigned amid the Watergate scandal.

“Eventually he was forced to resign after the evidence came out because he was misusing, he was abusing, the office of the presidency,” Clinton stated.

“How can we be back here, even entertaining the idea that someone who, frankly, makes Nixon look as a lesser threat, because of the kinds of things that Trump is saying and the kind of coziness he exhibits toward people like (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. How can we be at a point where Americans can say, ‘I want more of that?’” Clinton requested, including that it’s “so distressing” to her.

She additionally advised Collins that Trump saying something about her is extra telling of “the kind of president he wants to be.”

“He can say whatever he wants to about me, which he will. But that’s not really my concern. My concern is what it shows about the kind of president he wants to be for everybody in the country,” Clinton stated.

The Hill has contacted the Trump marketing campaign for remark.
