A Canadian youngsters’s ebook writer known as out Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth after he posted a meme of Franklin the Turtle firing missiles at boats.

Hegseth tweeted the meme on Sunday with the caption “For your Christmas wish list…”

Hegseth’s tweet stoked rage from administration critics.

On Monday, Children Can Press, the Canadian writer of Franklin the Turtle books, recommended the “beloved Canadian icon” doesn’t symbolize the values depicted in Hegseth’s meme.

“Franklin the Turtle is a beloved Canadian icon who has inspired generations of children and stands for kindness, empathy and inclusivity,” the corporate stated in a press release posted on social media.

“We strongly condemn any denigrating, violent, or unauthorized use of Franklin’s name and image, which directly contradicts these values,” the assertion continued.

On Monday, the administration insisted {that a} secondary strike on an alleged drug boat within the Caribbean Sea in a September U.S. navy operation was lawful, the Related Press reported.

The White Home stated that Navy Vice Adm. Frank “Mitch” Bradley ordered the second strike and was “within his authority and the law.” The navy operation has come underneath bipartisan scrutiny from lawmakers after The Washington Put up reported that Hegseth had issued a verbal order to “kill everybody” on the boat.

Authorized consultants say the U.S. navy would have dedicated a criminal offense if survivors had been killed. Trump defended Hegseth on Sunday. “Pete said he did not order the death of those two men,” Trump stated. “And I believe him.” Bradley is anticipated to offer a labeled briefing Thursday to lawmakers overseeing the navy.
