GM remembers greater than 90K autos over transmission subject

Common Motors is recalling greater than 90,000 autos in response to a possible transmission subject that would result in an elevated threat of a crash. 

The automaker stated in a recall report submitted to the Nationwide Freeway Site visitors Security Administration (NHTSA) that the transmission management valve inside some 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4, 2020-2021 Cadillac CT5, 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6 and 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro autos that includes a 10-speed transmission may undergo “excess wear” over time that would lead to “harsh shifting” and a “momentary” lock up of the wheels in “rare cases.”

“This recall only involves vehicles equipped with the 10-speed transmission,” the report stated of the recalled autos. “Vehicles equipped with other transmissions are not affected by this recall.” 

GM instructed FOX Enterprise in an announcement that the “safety of our customers is the highest priority for the entire GM team” and that the automaker was “working to remedy this matter through a software update as quickly as possible.”

There was one report of an alleged accident doubtlessly tied to the valve defect, in keeping with the recall report.

The software program replace to deal with the problem will “detect excess wear approximately 10,000 miles before a wheel lock up condition could occur” and maintain it from taking place by “placing the transmission into fifth gear until the next key cycle,” the report stated.

Sellers will set up the transmission management module monitoring software program at no cost to clients. 

House owners of autos affected by the recall can count on to obtain letters within the mail beginning April 21, in keeping with the NHTSA report.

The automaker integrated “new transmission control software” into manufacturing of mannequin 12 months 2021 Cadillac CT6s, mannequin 12 months 2022 Cadillac CT4 and CT5s and mannequin 12 months 2023 Chevrolet Camaros, in keeping with the NHTSA.
