Flames spewing from the wings of a Hainan Airways Boeing jet have been caught on video after the aircraft reportedly caught a fowl following takeoff from Italy.
The incident involving Hainan Airways Flight 438, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner destined for Shenzhen, China, unfolded Sunday within the neighborhood of Rome Fiumicino Airport.
Footage obtained by Viral Press reveals trails of flames coming from one of many aircraft’s engines because it flew near the bottom.
In one other clip, the aircraft might be seen dumping gas mid-flight earlier than turning round and touchdown again on the airport.

“On November 10th, 2024, Hainan Airlines flight HU438 (Rome-Shenzhen) encountered a bird strike on the right engine during takeoff,” the airline instructed Viral Press in a press release. “In order to ensure safety, the crew promptly returned to the airport according to procedures.”

The jet was carrying 249 passengers and 16 crew members, Reuters reported.
The aircraft flew round in almost a dozen circles off the coast of Italy earlier than returning to Rome Fiumicino Airport, in accordance with the flight-tracking web site FlightAware.
