Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) stated on Sunday he agrees with Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) that the far left helped propel President-elect Trump to victory, including that the simplest Trump marketing campaign advert was “Kamala Harris is for they/them, and Donald Trump is for us.”
“I mean, the stuff they have been saying is just offensive to a large percentage of the American people. The DEI stuff is offensive to a large swath of the American people,” Christie, who ran an unsuccessful 2024 presidential major bid, continued, referring to range, fairness and inclusion packages.
Christie – a one-time ally-turned-rival of the previous president’s – stated Democrats spent an excessive amount of time speaking about trans points and pronouns, which Christie advised may repel the typical reasonable Democrat and push them towards supporting the GOP ticket.
“The best advert that the Trump marketing campaign ran on this marketing campaign was, you understand, ‘Kamala Harris is for they/them, and Donald Trump is for us.’
“That’s because most people don’t see themselves as they/them. Yet, the Democrats have spent more time talking about a trans issue, which, quite frankly, is infinitesimal,” he stated, earlier than Karl reduce in, noting that “to be fair, it was the Republicans who spent more time talking about it.”
Christie pushed again, arguing Republicans have been doing so in response to Democrats’ push.
The remarks come after Torres, who represents the Bronx, ripped into Democrats in a post-election evaluation, saying the far left made it appear the complete Democratic occasion embraces unpopular positions like “Defund the Police.”
“Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has managed to alienate historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and Jews from the Democratic Party with absurdities like ‘Defund the Police’ or ‘From the River to the Sea’ or ‘Latinx,’” Torres wrote Wednesday on the social platform X.
