China opens world’s reported largest span bridge over Beipan River valley to visitors

The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge opened to visitors for the primary time on Sunday — and now claims to be the world’s tallest and largest span bridge in a mountainous space, in keeping with Chinese language state media.

Positioned in China’s Guizhou Province, the bridge hangs over the Beipan River and crosses by the Huajiang Canyon.

The bridge is reportedly 2,050 ft above the river. It stretches almost 10,000 ft lengthy, with a principal span of about 5,000 ft.

Guizhou Freeway Engineering Group Firm’s chief engineer, Zhang Shenglin, mentioned the bridge spans “earth’s crack.”

The bridge, he added, “will showcase China’s engineering capabilities and boost Guizhou’s goal of becoming a world-class tourist destination,” the China Each day reported.

After three years of development, the newly opened bridge efficiently cuts two hours of journey drive time down to 2 minutes, in keeping with Reuters.

He mentioned that time-frame included every little thing from “groundbreaking to completion, depending on environmental, political and logistical factors.”

The earlier tallest bridge on this planet, the Millau Viaduct in France, stretches 8,070 ft lengthy and sits almost 1,000 ft above the Tarn River.

It’s supported by seven concrete pillars which can be every 1,125 ft tall — “taller than the Eiffel Tower,” in keeping with the European House Company.
