California voters overwhelmingly assist redrawing the state’s congressional map to struggle again in opposition to the GOP’s redistricting transfer in Texas, a brand new ballot launched Friday discovered. And it’s a great signal for Democrats’ probabilities at staving off Republicans’ makes an attempt to rig the 2026 midterms.

The UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Research ballot carried out for the Los Angeles Instances discovered that 48% of registered voters stated they’d vote for the poll measure, versus 32% who’re opposed.

However when narrowed all the way down to voters who “regularly vote in statewide elections,” assist for the poll measure grows, with 55% saying they’d vote in favor and 34% who stated they’d vote no—a great signal for the poll measure’s probabilities at passage.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom

The poll measure was in direct response to Texas Republicans’ mid-cycle redistricting, during which they heeded calls for from President Donald Trump to redraw their congressional districts to wipe as many as 5 Democrats out of the state’s U.S. Home delegation.

California GOP lawmakers—whose districts can be nuked if voters cross the poll measure—have been whining about redistricting efforts. It’s a great signal they’re anxious the measure will cross and they’re going to lose their seats.

“The new district they have drawn for me … was specifically drawn to take away Republican votes and add Democrat votes,” Issa stated.

Different Democratic governors ought to take observe: Preventing again in opposition to Trump’s authoritarian energy grabs is common. Do extra of it.
