The Biden administration is looking to deepen U.S. cooperation with Cairo on thorny regional security problems as well as in economic and climate areas, a step toward closer ties after years of political turmoil in Egypt and accusations of human-rights abuses.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken, kicking off the first set of talks called a strategic dialogue with Egypt since 2015, listed a series of hot spots in the Middle East and Horn of Africa where Washington is working with Cairo.
