9 of Auburn soccer’s prime 14 tacklers are both true freshmen or sophomores, proving how younger the expertise is on the Tigers protection.
With six true freshmen taking part in significant snaps in all of Auburn’s video games this season, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze has cherished the weekly enchancment he’s seen from his younger expertise.
“Those freshmen continue to grow — whether it’s [Blake Woodby], [AnQuon Fegans], [Eric Winters], [Malik Autry], [Keyron Crawford], [Jared Smith], [Bryce Deas], [Elijah Melendez], [Xavier Atkins], all these young kids we’re playing over there,” Freeze mentioned throughout Monday’s presser. “[Donavan Starr] is going to be really good also. The future is bright with those guys. We’ve got a lot of good talent over there, and they’re getting better and better, week in and week out, it seems.”

On the offensive facet of the ball, Auburn operating again Omar Mabson II scored his first landing of the season final week towards Missouri.
Middle Kail Ellis additionally received some key snaps within the Tigers’ 23-17 double-overtime loss to Missouri. Beginning middle Connor Lew went out with a torn ACL, forcing Ellis to play the rest of the sport.
“Again, it’s his first go-around in an SEC game and honestly, he graded out pretty well. There were a few pass protection issues but that’s to be expected,” Freeze mentioned about Ellis. “Hopefully we can get all of those cleaned up with the time he has to prepare this week. He’s going to be an outstanding player. You hate to have to throw him out there quite this early, but that’s the hand we’ve been dealt.”
Auburn is again on the highway this week and can face Arkansas Saturday at 11:45 a.m. on the SEC Community.
