Mark Fairhurst, the union’s nationwide chair, stated: “The stress on employees is insupportable, and this may inevitably result in errors.

“These issues should have been addressed a long time ago, but as usual, our employer waits for a headline and then acts.”

The POA has warned this might occur once more sooner or later as a result of prisons are understaffed and overcrowded.

One member of employees at HMP Chelmsford has been suspended pending an investigation, with some MPs calling for the jail’s governor to step down if they’re discovered at fault.

Kebatu was discovered responsible in September of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old woman and a girl in Epping – a few week after he arrived within the UK on a small boat.

He had been staying at The Bell Resort, which was getting used to accommodate asylum seekers, and the case sparked weeks of protests over the summer time.
