Worldwide airways are getting ready to examine their Boeing fleets after a preliminary investigation into final month’s deadly Air India crash recognized flaws linked to the aircraft’s gas cutoff switches.

The engines of Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner — which induced the world’s deadliest aviation accident in a decade with 260 deaths — had been starved of gas when cutoff switches instantly flipped mid-flight, in response to a preliminary report launched Saturday by India’s plane investigators. The Air India aircraft crashed on June 12 after taking off from Ahmedabad airport, leaving one British nationwide as the only real survivor.

The crash has renewed scrutiny over the design and placement of essential gas cutoff switches, prompting the Air India Group and airways throughout South Korea to look at their Boeing plane for related points, in response to Reuters.

Air India Group reportedly started inspecting the gas switches on its Boeing fleets over the weekend. Half of its 787s and practically all its 737s have already been examined, with full inspections anticipated to be accomplished inside days, Reuters mentioned. Up to now, no faults have been reported.

In 2018, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration issued a Particular Airworthiness Info Bulletin warning that some Boeing 737 gas switches had been put in with their locking options disengaged, in response to India’s Plane Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). Nevertheless, the difficulty was not thought of hazardous sufficient to warrant obligatory repairs or actions beneath federal aviation guidelines, the advisory mentioned.

The FAA reaffirmed its authentic evaluation in a press release on Friday and famous that investigators thus far “found no urgent safety concerns related to the engines or airplane systems of the Boeing Model 787-8.”

“Although the fuel control switch design, including the locking feature, is similar on various Boeing airplane models, the FAA does not consider this issue to be an unsafe condition that would warrant an Airworthiness Directive on any Boeing airplane models, including the Model 787,” the company mentioned. “The FAA will continue to share relevant information with foreign civil aviation authorities as appropriate.”
