Pierpont Neighborhood & Technical Faculty mourns the passing of Dr. Kathleen Nelson, who served as Interim President from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. Dr. Nelson led Pierpont throughout a crucial time for the establishment, bringing regular management, a beneficiant spirit, and a deep dedication to pupil success and institutional progress.

 

“Dr. Nelson guided Pierpont a long way during her time as interim president,” mentioned David Hinkle, Vice Chair of the Board of Governors, who served as Chair throughout her tenure. “Her leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our college left a lasting impact. She will be deeply missed, and we are forever grateful for the progress she helped us achieve.”

 

Throughout her tenure at Pierpont, Dr. Nelson helped launch a number of key initiatives, together with the opening of the Veterinary Expertise constructing, the Culinary Academy at Middletown Commons, and the Preschool Laboratory. She prioritized communication and collaboration by establishing the Non-Categorised Employees Council and the Security Committee to make sure workers had a voice in campus choices. Her dedication to transparency strengthened relationships between the Board of Governors and faculty college and employees, serving to information Pierpont by a interval of serious institutional change.

 

“Dr. Nelson joined Pierpont at a pivotal moment in our history,” mentioned Dr. Michael Waide, Interim President of Pierpont Neighborhood & Technical Faculty. “Her leadership helped us move forward in meaningful ways, launching new facilities, prioritizing employee engagement, and encouraging open communication across the college.
