The Federal Commerce Fee (FTC) is making July “Made in the USA” month.

FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson introduced the transfer on Tuesday because the month of July formally will get underway and the Fourth of July vacation quickly approaches. 

The FTC is looking for to teach companies and American shoppers about Made within the USA requirements, rejoice firms that make their merchandise in America and stop misuse of the label.

The FTC is tasked with implementing the foundations for merchandise utilizing Made within the USA labeling.

“While we want to enforce the law, we also want to help companies showcase to consumers that American workers and manufacturing is an engine of American innovation, business creation, and economic growth,” Ferguson mentioned in an announcement asserting Made within the USA month. 

Ferguson advised FOX Enterprise’ Lydia Hu in an interview that the FTC needs to “protect American consumers so that when they go to the store and they pick up a product that says ‘Made in the USA,’ we want them to have confidence that that is actually made in the USA so that they know they are supporting American workers in the American economy.”

The company additionally needs to “help businesses who want to be able to advertise their products as made in USA” and assist them “understand what the rules are” for promoting domestically made merchandise as Made within the USA, he mentioned. 

The FTC has “tons of materials” out there to companies seeking to promote their merchandise as Made within the USA and is trying to make sure they “are aware that these resources are available” by Made within the USA month, he advised Hu.

There are strict guidelines round when merchandise can use the “Made in USA” label and be marketed as being domestically produced.

Ferguson mentioned the FTC needs to “protect the American worker and American manufacturing by making that label really mean something.”

Ferguson advised Hu that the FTC is “going to be devoting a lot more resources” beginning in July than it has been doing over the previous a number of years to “protecting that Made in USA label” with plans for “increased enforcement” beginning this month. 

“We want people who honestly have products made in the USA to be able to use that label, and we’re gonna help them do it,” he mentioned.

On the similar time, the FTC needs to “protect the value of that label and protect consumer confidence by making sure that that label is being used honestly” and never by firms making false claims, based on Ferguson.
