However Sir James Eadie KC, representing the Treasury, HM Income and Customs (HMRC) and the Division for Schooling (DfE), stated abolishing the VAT exemption for personal college charges was a characteristic of Labour’s manifesto and is anticipated to yield between £1.5bn and £1.7bn a yr.
