The Canadian Coast Guard says the cargo ship MSC Baltic III reported a lack of energy then ran aground on the western coast of Newfoundland.

All 20 individuals on board the ship have been safely airlifted from the vessel Saturday morning by a Cormorant helicopter.

The Marine Communications and Site visitors Companies in Port aux Basques, N.L., obtained a mayday name from the ship that was close to Lark Harbour, N.L. Saturday morning.

The MSC Baltic III was about 12 nautical miles outdoors of the doorway to Bay of Islands when it reported shedding energy.
