SAN JOSE – A 49-year-old San Jose man is going through federal costs he assaulted and robbed a U.S. Postal Service letter service final yr in Japantown, prosecutors stated.

Robert Cordova, often known as Robert Cordona, was indicted in January on one depend of theft of a letter service and one depend of assaulting a federal worker, in keeping with the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace. Cordova made his preliminary court docket look Monday.

The alleged crimes occurred on Nov. 22 close to the intersection of Taylor and thirteenth streets.

The service was sorting parcels for supply on the rear of his mail truck when he felt the car transfer, prosecutors stated. He regarded round the suitable nook of the truck and noticed a person – later recognized as Cordova – along with his higher physique contained in the car.

Cordova then took the service to the bottom, repeatedly punched him within the face and head, and tried to gouge out his eyes, prosecutors stated. The service was taken to a hospital, the place he was recognized with a damaged nostril and a fractured eye socket.

San Jose law enforcement officials discovered Cordova within the yard of a home close to the scene of the alleged crimes. He was arrested after the service recognized him because the assailant.
