NEW DELHI: The federal government on Monday stated 13 individuals had been arrested in 2024 in reference to hoax bomb threats to airways. Final 12 months, a complete of 728 bomb threats had been obtained by airways and out of them, 714 had been obtained by home carriers, based on knowledge shared by the civil aviation ministry in Rajya Sabha. Citing knowledge from the bureau of civil aviation safety (BCAS), minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated 728 hoax bomb threats had been obtained by airline operators in 2024. Among the many Indian airways, IndiGo obtained the best variety of bomb threats at 216, adopted by Air India (179), Vistara (153), Akasa Air (72), SpiceJet (35), Alliance Air (26), Air India Categorical (19) and Star Air (14). The overall determine contains 14 bomb threats obtained by overseas carriers. Emirates and Air Arabia obtained 5 and three such threats, respectively, final 12 months whereas one menace every was obtained by Aeroflot, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Nok Air, and Thai Lion Air, as per the information. “Total 13 persons have been arrested in 2024 in connection with hoax bomb threats,” he stated in a written reply. BCAS has mandated strong protocols for dealing with such threats and as a part of the bomb menace contingency plan (BTCP), each airport has a delegated bomb menace evaluation committee (BTAC) which analyses the menace and act accordingly. “In order to deal with hoax bomb threats, BCAS has issued advisories to all the civil aviation stakeholders in the country to ensure streamlined security measures and to prevent any unlawful interference with civil aviation,” the minister stated.
