Greater than two dozen our bodies have been recovered from the Potomac River after an American Airways flight and a navy helicopter collided Wednesday night time close to Washington, D.C., in line with officers. 

American Eagle Flight 5342 was flying from Wichita, Kansas, to the nation’s capital when it was “involved in an accident” at Ronald Reagan Washington Nationwide Airport, American Airways stated.

Hearth and EMS Chief John A. Donnelly stated authorities don’t imagine there are any survivors, and regardless of the immense effort from tons of of first responders, authorities switched from a rescue operation to a restoration operation on Thursday.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, authorities recovered 27 our bodies from the airplane and one from the helicopter, D.C. in line with Donnelly.

There have been 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board the plane, which was operated by American Airways’ subsidiary PSA Airways.

The collision occurred round 9 p.m. ET when a PSA Airways Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet collided in midair with a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter whereas on method to runway 33 at Reagan Nationwide Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated.

“I’d like to express our deep sorrow about these events. This is a difficult day for all of us at American Airlines. And our efforts now are focused now entirely on the needs of our passengers, crew members, partners, first responders, along with their families and loved ones,” American Airways CEO Robert Isom stated in a video assertion Wednesday night.

Isom stated that at this early stage he does not have many solutions, however that the airline is working with federal, state and native authorities. 

The reason for the accident continues to be being investigated.

President Donald Trump stated he has been “fully briefed” on the incident and that the crash “should have been prevented.”
