Man arrested in reference to hate crime in Palo Alto

PALO ALTO – A 44-year-old Palo Alto man was arrested on suspicion of yelling a racial epithet whereas harassing a lady final week exterior Metropolis Corridor, in keeping with authorities.

Police stated the sufferer – described as a lady in her 40s – was strolling via Civic Middle Plaza and approaching the entrance entrance of Metropolis Corridor when a person rushed towards her, blocked her path and “yelled a racial epithet directed at Asian people.”

The sufferer, fearing for her security, ran from the suspect, who adopted her and continued to yell, police stated. He stopped following her when she reached the road.

The sufferer flagged down an off-duty police officer within the 600 block of Ramona Road. On-duty officers have been dispatched to the realm, however they didn’t discover the suspect.

As officers have been talking with the sufferer, they obtained phrase a person was harassing clients and strolling out and in of visitors at City & Nation Village on Embarcadero Highway.

Officers detained the person and decided he was the identical one that accosted the girl exterior Metropolis Corridor, police stated. The person was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail on misdemeanor hate crime and malicious obstruction prices.
